  • The company has developed an infrastructure that enables IoT connectivity for the first vehicle emergency beacon approved for sale in Spain
  • These beacons, which replace the emergency triangles and emit a bright flash visible in all directions from a distance of at least 1 km, will be mandatory in Spain in three years
  • For its part, SEIDOR Opentrends, SEIDOR’s digital solutions subsidiary, will participate in the congress showcasing the IoT Thingtia platform

SEIDOR, a technology services and solutions consulting firm, announced today that it will be present once again at the international IoT Solutions World Congress, whose edition starts today in Barcelona. The company will be exhibiting a wide variety of projects in the field of IoT, artificial intelligence and the cloud during the exhibition, among which the Help Flash IoT connected mobility project stands out. These are the first vehicle light beacons (V16) approved for sale in Spain and connected to the DGT 3.0 platform of the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT).

Help Flash IoT V16 beacons emit a bright flash visible in all directions from at least one kilometer away. SEIDOR, meanwhile, has developed the infrastructure that enables the beacon to connect to the DGT 3.0 network – a cloud service still in the testing phase – which will also be in operation from 2026. With this feature, in an emergency the system displays the exact location of the vehicle and sends a notification to the DGT control center and the competent authority.

“They can already be used, and in 2026 all triangles will have to be replaced by the V16 beacon. This is why this project puts Spain at the forefront in terms of real road safety implementations,” says Carlos Polo, Business Development Director at SEIDOR Innovation & Venture. “We are laying the groundwork for data management in the area of connected mobility and, more importantly, for intelligent and coordinated data exchange that will help save a significant number of lives on the road”.

In addition to this project, SEIDOR will be exhibiting at its stand (F678) many other use cases in different areas (especially in everything related to  connected appliances), with projects with leading firms in this sector such as Teka and Onnera, in addition to other projects such as Erreka’s connected pedestrian doors.

Thingtia: Sustainable IoT solutions for industry

SEIDOR will have a double presence at the 2023 IOT Congress, as SEIDOR Opentrends, now a subsidiary of the firm, will also be present at the exhibition (in its case, in the Barcelona City Hall area) to showcase Thingtia, a SaaS version of the open source IoT platform Sentilo, developed at the time for Barcelona and currently used by a large community of companies and public bodies in Spain. It is a platform based on flexible SaaS models with an open and scalable architecture, without incurring the costs and time of implementing on-premise solutions and with the freedom to change the service model according to actual needs.

“Thingtia’s mission has always been to promote IoT technologies that allow us to create sustainable and scalable solutions for all sectors,” explains Carlos Puga, technology director of SEIDOR Opentrends. “Our presence at an event such as the IOT Solutions Congress allows us to share this innovation with technical managers related to high-value projects, which are the DNA of our organization”.
