Workflow and Electronic Processing (openTram)

Record processing consists of creating, tracking and upgrading information relating to an administrative process. The information is grouped in processing records, which follow a particular workflow or workflows, sequentially or in parallel, depending on their type.

The life cycle of this record and its journey through the Workflow is managed by software tools known as WorkFlow Engines. These Workflow engines follow and are structured on workflows modeled in XPDL, with Process Modeling Tools.

openTrends has integrated and reinforced two open source tools, shark and jawe, to create a processing technology, openTram, which enables:

  • Graphic modeling, with a graphic editor that follows the WFMC standard for XML description of procedures. The use of this standard, XPDL, makes it easy to apply the definition to any processing engine that follows this recommendation. The tool makes it possible to define processes, activities, roles, users, associated data, transitions, splits, external applications, forms, alerts and deadlines, attached documents, scanned documents, generated documents and notifications.
  • The simulation, making it possible to verify that the workflow has performed as expected and all defined actions are reproduced in a controlled environment: forms, external applications, document management, time, etc.
  • The execution of the process, providing the users with a console to create a record, view the pending task box, process a record and make queries.
  • System monitoring, providing an administration console for the necessary tracking to check that everything is being carried out correctly: detecting bottlenecks, reassigning records, rejecting records and defining general data and system parameters.
