Intended for the junior profiles of the IT world, Opentrends' new program sets out to develop the professional careers of future technology experts.

Opentrends, a technology consultancy firm specializing in digital transformation solutions, today announced the launch of its new youth talent development program, OpenAcademy. The first edition of the initiative will be launched next September.

“It is a mix of training and professional development, combining the theoretical component with real-life practice in the workplace”, explains Jesús Ruiz, Opentrends’ Chief People Officer (CPO). “The goal is to develop the professional career of future technology experts with a leading consultancy firm in technology projects with world-class companies”.

Aimed at young people who have recently completed their computer studies, Opentrends considers OpenAcademy as a necessary initiative to meet the high number of qualified people required by the company for its technological projects.

To put it into context, since the pandemic began we have seen a 20% increase in revenue, and our workforce has grown from 300 then to more than 400 today,” explains Jesús Ruiz. “This is an optimal way to combine our growth requirements with the potential offered by the talent of our young people, who through OpenAcademy will be able to develop themselves professionally with the main companies in sectors such as fintech, education, retail and automotive.”

It is a six-month program, over the course of which each participant will have a personalized training plan and the support and guidance of a Buddy Sensei, a colleague who will help him or her understand our company's culture, the way in which we work and our processes, will serve as a point of reference in the event of technical or methodological questions, and will also offer support in case of personal concerns about the team, the relationship with the manager, etc.

OpenAcademy starts with an initial theoretical and training module, and from the second week the person will be assigned to a project, allowing them to continue their training in a real-world environment.

“Beyond the advantages in terms of efficiency and cost management, this initiative represents an important commitment to young talent on the part of Opentrends,” explains Juanjo Jiménez. “We want to train our young people from the start of their professional careers, and thus foster their loyalty and encourage them to grow together with us”.

From the first day, OpenAcademy will provide participants with a detailed plan to follow, which will include different milestones or levels. Each milestone will have associated learning and development objectives, thus enabling participants to see their growth and progress achieved over time.

In addition, thanks to the real-world learning in the workplace, the different participants will be able to acquire knowledge and skills specific to their project, from a technological and methodological perspective. In this way, OpenAcademy will provide a unique and personalized experience for each person.
