The Barcelona City Council uses our IoT platform
Challenge
The Barcelona City Council has requested the creation of an Internet of Things (IoT) platform that transforms the city's basic infrastructures and optimizes the use of energy and resources, turning Barcelona into a smart city that improves sustainability and the quality of life for its population.
Solution
The solution provided was Sentilo, our on-premise IoT platform that collects, manages, and disseminates information gathered by sensors distributed throughout the city. The data has been transformed into visual and intuitive information with real-time views of massive data flows.
Sentilo is also available in a cloud version named Thingtia. Thingtia operates on a scalable and open architecture, using open-source components such as Redis, MySQL, and Mongo databases, Hibernate, JSON, or JQuery. Thingtia avoids vertical solutions and facilitates data exchange, reducing dependence on specific technologies, products, and providers. Its use serves as an alternative to vertically organized ITC solutions in silos.
Thingtia transforms raw data into intuitive and useful data visualization.
Results
The platform has enabled the transformation of Barcelona with more efficient and cost-effective services, reducing noise pollution and traffic congestion.
It has played a key role in positioning Barcelona on the map of smart cities.
